Week of July 12, 2016 - Summer Days

Green and glorious blessings to you all.

The mellow days of summer are here, with remedies everywhere we look. The apprentices and I are making herbal wines and delicious goat cheeses, herbal vinegars and medicinal tinctures and healing salves, too.

This past week we were joined by wonderful women for our Green Witch Holiday. We chanted and walked in the woods, went for a dip in the river, and made our annual trip to Gretchen Gould’s amazing Herb Hill, where she makes the most wonderful infused herbal oils. She graciously invites the green witches to spend the day with her, absorbing her vast knowledge of plants and harvesting from her sacred land. You can see all of Gretchen’s offerings here, at Amazing Grease.

And, of course, we had our Goddess Pageant and our Green Witch Initiation, and plant identification walks with the goats, who bring such happiness to all of us. Here are a few pictures of their antics, so you can share the joy.

Two interesting plants – one cultivated and one wild – caught my eye this week, as well as three vignettes from my daily life. Check them out right here.

This week marks the start of a new series of articles I want to share with you. This series looks at what I consider worst suggestions regarding diet and health. Over the coming weeks I will address each of my top ten, thumbs-down choices of diets and remedies. My goal, as always, is to help you regain and maintain optimum health, while avoiding these common pitfalls.

Coming next in July is my trip up to Ontario for Pagan Fest, time with my friend Candace Cave and Judith Blackstone focused on the Realization Technique, a moonlodge and two classes at the Wise Woman Center (A Day with the Trees, and Chronic Problems), and a Weed Walk at Mirabai in Woodstock. I hope you can join me at one or more of these events.

Green blessings are everywhere.
