Week of May 6, 2015 - Free Herb Day and May Celebrations

Green Blessings to you all.

May your May celebrations (Beltaine, Mayday, Cinco de Mayo) be full of color and fun.
My garden is bursting with daffodils and tulips; the bluebirds are nesting, and a cardinal wakes me most mornings trying to break into my bedroom window.

I am just back from the Free Herb Day put on by Mt. Rose Herbs in Eugene, Oregon. There the rhododendrons are in full, massive bloom. And open woodlands are awash in camas blossoms.

The day before Free Herb Day, we went to a wonderful herb farm and videotaped short pieces on some of my favorite plants, including nettles, hops, cleavers, yellow dock, and yarrow. I was most impressed with the kale trees at the farm, one of which towered over my head. Nowadays, Popeye would be more likely to eat kale than spinach.

My presentation at Free Herb Day – covering St. Joan’s wort oil and tincture, the Three Traditions of Healing, nettle, oatstraw, and red clover infusions, problems with essential oils and raw food, and much more – was also taped. When the editing is done, we will all enjoy the bounty of my time in Oregon. So stay tuned. And a huge thank you to Mt Rose for supporting herbal education!

I must be off, the baby goats are calling. Enjoy. Celebrate. Come play with me this Saturday in Saratoga Springs. [link] Celebrate Mother’s Day at Laughing Rock farm as we work in the gardens. And be sure not to miss the next weekend, when we will be exploring The Great Remedies and Hands-on First Aid.

Green (and yellow and red and blue and orange and purple) blessings are everywhere.
