Our Wellness Adventure in Costa Rica started off with a crash and ended with a sigh of delight. In between were waterfalls and monkeys, jungles and azure waters, and the fabled blue morpho butterfly.

Our first adventure – to Montezuma Falls – was a beautiful opportunity to swim in wild water. On the way back, I slipped and fell, hard, into a rocky pool. Pulling me out, we were horrified to see my wrist swelling in an alarming way. Was it sprained? Dislocated? Broken? It looked awful and felt worse. This adventure is detailed in Trauma Care in the Wild, starting last week and continuing here.

As a consequence, I didn’t take any photos, cuz it takes two hands. But everyone else did. And they are going to post them at a new Facebook page: Weed’s Wellness Adventures. Yes. You can enjoy them too! The new site will “go public” the first week of February, just in time for my birthday.
Our second adventure took us to Curu National Park, where we sought a spot to do our Earth Awakening Ceremony. Our guide (the only licensed jungle guide on the Nicoya Peninsula), turned onto the trail marked “Closed!” an hour – and many wonderful plant and animal stories – later. Right behind him, I turned also, took a few steps deeper into the jungle, and a blue butterfly, shimmering in the sun, flew right at me.

There could be no better token of “Welcome!” to receive. We were stunned with joy. As we resumed walking, following the trail, another blue morpho materialized! And then another, and ultimately, one more blue morpho butterfly, our fourth, flitted by a few minutes later.  It was the Day of the Blue Morpho, a special kind of bliss and an acknowledgement of our connection to Earth Energy.

Our ceremonies at Tortuga Island (and Tai Chi on the beach) and at Cabo Blanco (what an adventure) were also welcomed with delight. Check out our Facebook page for photos of the incredible beauty. And dream of when you will be in them yourself.

Because green (and blue) blessings are everywhere.
